North Yorkshire's new County Commissioner announced

Welcome to Mark Edwards as our new C.C. from May 2017

In an open letter to all members and supporters in North Yorkshire Scouts, Ian Chappell, the Scout Association's North East Regional Commissioner says:

Dear Colleagues,

County Commissioner – North Yorkshire Scout County

Mark EdwardsI am very pleased to announce that the County Search Group unanimously recommended Mark Edwards as the new County Commissioner for North Yorkshire Scout County and that the Headquarters Appointments Advisory Committee has approved the appointment. Mark currently holds the role of Assistant County Commissioner (Beaver Scouts).

Mark began his Scouting as a Cub Scout in Bristol progressing through the sections to become a Venture Scout. He was a Cub Scout Leader in Exmouth before beginning his teaching career. Mark undertook Voluntary Service Overseas in Papua New Guinea after starting his career, teaching in a school on a remote Pacific island. Mark has been in education for thirty-two years and Head Teacher of two schools during the last fourteen years.

Mark is married with three grown up children and lives in Harrogate. He said, “I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to serve as your County Commissioner and promise to work hard to build on the successes of the past and lead you into the future”.

Mark will take up his role as County Commissioner from 1 May 2017.

I know that we will all support Mark as he takes on his new role at an exciting time for the Movement as we look beyond 2018.
