Developing Leadership in young people
This month's Ingleboro' Info District Newsletter draws attention to an IMPORTANT part of our young people's development:
In Scouting, leadership skills are and always have been, an important element of the programme. From being a Lodge Leader in Beavers, a Sixer in Cubs or a Patrol Leader in the Scout section, youngsters learn how to work with others and take responsibility for completing tasks. The most important part of peer leadership is not what you call it, but that the Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts and Explorer Scouts have an enjoyable and meaningful experience developing their leadership skills.
To help both leaders and young people themselves, new resources have now been produced by The Scout Association, including Lodge Leadership stripes, Cub Sixer leaflets and resources for Patrol Leaders, etc. For more information on 'peer leadership' click on the link HERE
