Disrupted by snow.... but a success nevertheless!!
This report by courtesy of Iris De Wet:
The mini 'Beast from the East' (weather) probably caused some teams of Beavers not to turn up for the County Scrap Heap Challenge on Sunday, but in spite of the snowy weather, teams from Harrogate and Nidderdale, Northallerton, Ripon and District and York Ebor, turned up and took part in the 'Battle of the Bands'.
Presented with a box full of bits and pieces the twenty-four Beavers were challenged to make musical instruments, form a band and then accompany everyone singing the world premier of a new song, to the tune of Baa, Baa, Black Sheep.
Annie, the ACC(BS) is not only a brilliant Scientist but is an accomplished musician too and she showed the Beavers an impressive array of musical instruments, including a didgeridoo. Yes, she did play it!
Judges, Mark Edwards the County Commissioner and John Ives the Creative Assistant County Commissioner had a difficult job judging the event and after a very closely fought ‘battle’ the winners were York Ebor, closely followed by Ripon, Northallerton and HANDS."
WELL DONE to all who braved the weather!
