This from John Ives, our ACC Creative Activities
The County Creative Activities Team is linking up with IVE (a Yorkshire Region’s Arts Council funded Bridge organisation connecting the cultural sector and the education sector so all children and young people have access to great arts and cultural opportunities) to allow members of the movement in the County to participate in the Arts Award. The Arts Award is an accredited award that inspires young people to grow their arts and leadership talents. The award can be achieved at five levels, four nationally recognised qualifications and an introductory award: Discover, Explore, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
All Scout members up to the age of 25 can take part in Arts Award which encourages independent learning as well as teamwork skills. Arts Award is a portfolio based qualification and is flexible enough to ensure that young people of all abilities can achieve the awards. By taking part in Arts Award, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Network members will also have the opportunity to achieve sections of a variety of badges. Explorers and Network members can also achieve Arts Award alongside the Duke of Edinburgh Award by specialising in arts skills.

Initially the team is looking to have a number of members trained up as Assessors. The training would take place over one day, would be set up specifically for yourselves and would be free of charge to the individual.
If you would like to get involved in this exciting opportunity to raise the profile of Creative Activities in the County, or would like more information please get in touch.
