Event Organised by York Ebor District for Explorer Scouts
New to Escape? Escape is a catch-and-evade wide game where teams of Explorers - 'Escapers' - are given 24 hours to navigate between set checkpoints, while being chased by 'Catchers'. Bookings now open!
Escape is an event organised by York Ebor District, North Yorkshire and is open to all UK Explorer Scouts (14-17yrs) as 'Escapers' and Network members and Leaders (18yrs+) as 'Catchers'. The Escapers are given 24 hours to get between set checkpoints across the Yorkshire countryside while evading Catcher teams. Escape is held annually on the third weekend in October.
Bookings are now open! Last year we had to close bookings early as we were fully booked, so book now to avoid disappointment.
When is it?
Saturday 19th to Sunday 20th October 2019. Escape begins at 10:00am, with sign-ins and kit checks commencing at 08:30am.
Where is it?
This year we will be returning to Howardian Hills. Specific locations are kept secret until one month before Escape starts, to make sure the route is brand new to all Escape teams. The end location is only announced on the event.
Are you up to the challenge? Can you...
a) Walk 25-35km? (This same distance as a DofE Bronze expedition)
b) Be on your feet competing for 24 hours?
c) Competently navigate yourself across Yorkshire's countryside?
d) Cope in all weathers, with the appropriate equipment to help you?
e) Arrive at our Yorkshire start point for 08:30am on a Saturday morning?
We've had nearly 350 participants from across England. We expect lots of cunning, lots of resourcefulness and lots of ingenuity! So far, our teams have not disappointed!
The Escape team who are caught the fewest times, and hold the least amount of penalty points win!
